HUMANISM CELEBRATING
LIFE IN A
DISSERTATION ON THE NEW HUMANISM
The best way to celebrate life on this planet is to join each other in the Spirit of Oneness. The New Humanism is the Spirit of Oneness at work in the world. Oneness means we are part of something perfect and complete that cannot be changed or altered, and from which we cannot be separated. Oneness means without beginning, without end. Oneness is The Source; it is the most perfect sense, Wholeness. The number One is the only number in the Universe. All numbers come from the number One. The common denominator of all human beings, individually and collectively, is One. We are all One in the Universe, in the One Source, the Source of One, a Source that is whole and complete, with perfect harmony, balance and unity. Within the community of Mankind, the Spirit of Oneness drives us toward a realization, toward a practical application of this same wholeness, completeness, harmony, balance and unity, always striving for perfection, and we will not rest until we have achieved it. That we are all part of this Spirit of Oneness is the Truth of Us. The Law of Oneness is the first law and the only law of the Universe. All laws, religious, secular and scientific emerge from this Law of Oneness. When we obey the Law of Oneness, we also obey all laws of Mankind. Conversely, when we violate the Law of Oneness, we also violate all laws of Mankind. One cannot obey the laws of one's state while at the same time violating the Law of Oneness from which all laws emerge. Therefore, from a universal standpoint both the death penalty and abortion are illegal, as is the discrimination of any person, regardless who they are, how they think or act, or what they've done. The first fundamental of the Law of Oneness is that should not kill one another. Human life is sacred, inviolable, true and real within the overall scheme of things. The Golden Rule is the practical application of the Law of Oneness. CARING ABOUT PEOPLE COMMUNITY WE ARE ALL ONE How we care about one another becomes the test of our belief in the Law of Oneness. It is our test as to how we live the Truth of Us. The concept of Oneness is that we are all One, that there are no differences between people. When I look at you I see myself, therefore what I do to you I do to myself and this vibration affects all Mankind. We are all alike, no difference. If we find differences, we have learned differences from a prejudicial society based on class. We learn differences from the philosophy of differences, and the philosophy of differences emerges from the Sphere of Separatism. It was the Nazarene who gave us the practical application of the Law of Oneness: CARE ABOUT PEOPLE. We cannot care about ourselves until we first care about others (not the other way around). We find ourselves in the quest of the Who am I? in others. We learn about ourselves as reflected off others. There is only One thing expected of us in life and that is to be a real person, and the only way to do that is to CARE ABOUT PEOPLE. We can believe what we want to believe, but all we have for sure in this world is each other. Our work in the world is more important that we are. Legacy is the meaning of life. A world that lives in the Spirit of Oneness is a utopian world; it is a united world; thus World Unity-utopia is the goal of all Mankind.
The New Humanism is a philosophy of Oneness, the Spirit of Oneness at work in the world. The New Humanism is living the Golden Rule, seeing ourselves in others. Humanism focuses on the positive commonalities in ALL people, while Separatism focuses on the negative differences in people. The abbreviation of Humanism is caring about people. The main task of Humanism is to reunite the human experience, for we are all brothers and sisters of the Universe. WE ARE ONE FAMILY IN MANKIND Humanism helps validate all religious and spiritual faiths, for all ideas are valid in a universe of infinite possibility. And while all ideas are valid, the key is to make good humanistic choices in our human relations. Humanism helps move us out of the old consciousness into the New Consciousness, from the Sphere of Separatism to the Sphere of Humanism. The Sphere of Humanism is the place where we celebrate life in the Spirit of Oneness. The heart of humanism is the heart of all Mankind, a heart that beats as One with the Universe. We know all that there is to know about our Universe, a priori. This knowledge has been verified through the ancients, the scholars and holy men as mystical knowledge. THE TRUTH OF US The Truth of US is that we are all One. Living the Truth of Us, keeps us moving forward, ever forward toward our goal of world unity, toward wholeness, toward a practical realization of our Oneness. Life is a presentary, moment-to-moment, forward-leaning experience that moves Mankind perpetually toward his destiny outward into the stars. This destiny is reflected within the microcosm of how we treat each other on this planet. Therein lay the secrets to success in achieving our goals. The Truth of Us is best manifested in how we care about people. Truth is what works for us and thus is more important than knowledge. A philosophy that works for us becomes a truth greater than knowledge; it is greater than ethics in that it creates ethics based upon truth, which is based upon the Law of Oneness. What we believe to be true is more important than knowledge because we have the power to make things come true simply through the power of our intention, as Dyer tells us in "The Power of Intention," by believing, by opening up the channels to the infinite energy of the Universe, our Source. We create our own truth through a positive frame of mind, through our eternal optimism, by out-picturing what it is we desire, as Zukav tells us in "Seat of the Soul." and thus we create our own knowledge, which is our understanding of the truth. This truth becomes our reality as I.W. Thomas hypothesized in the "definition of the situation." Truth is what brings people together; Truth allows us to accomplish our goals in life, to make this a better world. Thus we Humanists strive for a philosophy that works for us, that encourages each of us to become a better person, to respect others, to build a better world as we work together in harmony toward the common goal of all Mankind, World Unity. Thus the truth of Oneness becomes the Truth of Us. This truth gives us an ethic to live by. Truth gives an altruistic foundation to all that we do in the world; in essence it gives us meaning, it gives us a reason for getting up each morning; it gives us a goal toward which to strive. The goal of World Unity-utopia is to create a world in our own image of Oneness and harmony, a united world in which justice, freedom and equality prevail. The truth of Oneness is the foundation upon which we base all human relations. Humanism is an opportunity for us to celebrate life by living the Truth of Us, the truth of Oneness. The philosophy of Humanism, or the philosophy of Oneness, allows us the understanding that all ideas are valid in a universe of infinite possibility, that life is limitless opportunity, that we are able to do all that we came to do, learn all we came to learn simply by keeping an open mind, that we can achieve great things because THERE ARE NO LOCKED GATES IN THE OPEN MIND The energy of the Spirit of Oneness is Trust,
TRUST THE SILENCE Trust arrives first through a commitment to one's truth: We cannot achieve a meaningful world by focusing on meaningless questions. A meaningful world comes through "doing," through a commitment to excellence, through a commitment to helping others, through a commitment to helping this become a better world, and we do this through our bliss, through out higher purpose Finding our bliss, through the development of our talents and abilities, focusing our energies into our unique voice, and converting our bliss into a higher purpose gives substance to our commitment to excellence, to caring about people, the planet and working toward our goals. Trust comes from our commitment to the higher purpose and a belief that all is perfect. All that we do in the world must be based upon the higher purpose, which is the opposite of the mundane purpose of power, wealth and fame. When power, wealth and fame come to us through our commitment to the higher purpose, we feed back into our unique efforts to make this a better world. We are all unique, so we all have a unique design as to what this special purpose looks like. The notion of special purpose is simply the understanding that we all have a little corner of the world to save; we all have a responsibility to the future of mankind. When we devote ourselves to the higher purpose, and all that we need to get the job will come to us in good time. All the tools we need to do our work in the world will come to through Trust and in good time. The timing of what we are doing is perfect. There is no need to get anxious or frustrated or disappointed in those around us. The key is to be the hero and to lead by example. Furthermore,
all the people we need to meet along this Journey will come into our
lives in good time. Notions of imperfection, doubt and confusion, fear and longing, wanting and needing simply become impediments to the energy that is our abundance; we block the Source with our every negative thought. Set the goals you want in your work in the world and do not question them, and all will materialize through the out-picturing of these desires as Zukav states. Trust believes unequivocally that: All is well, all is flowing as it should. Our refuge is within Trust. Trust comes to us through the Silence. Silence comes to us when we stop the meaningless questions. The most important question in the world is: We are here, now what are we going to do about it? Our mission is not to complain about how bad things are in the world, not to play "ain't it awful" or "woe is me." For there is nothing wrong in the world. The world is perfect. IF
WE CHANGE OURSELVES, The first step in creating a perfect world is to move from the Sphere of Separatism into the Sphere of Humanism; this will give us ideas on how we can help others embrace this same consciousness. This is how we all get to the perfect world, a united world (united in consciousness), utopia. THE
UNIVERSE SPEAKS TO US THROUGH SILENCE The Universe speaks to us, not in words but on a level that we know without knowing how we know. On this intimate level we think, we write, we draw, we speak and do in ways that are specific to our commitment to the higher purpose. We get there without really knowing how. Each of us has a unique set of talents and abilities, a unique voice that is important to our work in the world, and this is what we dedicate within the higher purpose. On the conscious level we know nothing. But on the intimate level, the one we share with The Source, we know these things because we Trust that we know. When Socrates said "I know nothing," he expressed this through his search of the wise man. In the New Humanism, there is no such search; there is simply the existential moment of how we are going to recreate our world through our work in the higher purpose; this is how knowledge comes to us, through the Truth we create around us. All positive truth connects with all other positive truth and sets off a vibration, negative truth does the same. We have a Trust of knowing through spirit; this is mystical knowledge; it is the energy upon which the humanist thrives. The positive energy of Humanism is Trust. Trust becomes fearlessness. The Universe will tell us what we need to know through our Trust, commitment and dedication to the higher purpose. It is an exchange of energy: commitment for strength, commitment for energy; this is how we get the power we need to do the job in the higher purpose. The negative energy of Separatism comes from doubt and fear. If you want to love more, fear less. Become fearless in your Trust in the Power of Oneness. Source speaks to us within our higher purpose, supporting us in our goals, which are mainly: how to become a better person, how to improve our human relations, how to dispel controversy, how to lead by example, how to care about people, how to help save our little corner of the world. Trust, within the silence, is more important than prayer, but more than that, TRUST IS PRAYER By Trusting rather than praying, we acknowledge the truth that we have everything we need to do the job we came to do. SILENCE IS THE HUMANIST'S PRAYER It is through this silence that the humanist Trusts that all is well, all is perfect, all is flowing as it should. There is nothing wrong in our world. This is a powerful declaration. The power of positive thinking. This generates a powerful vibration in the world. It
is Trust that opens up the channels to the Source and energy flows. The humanist celebrates his own uniqueness within the overall scheme of Oneness. Each of us has a corner of the world to save, each according to our talents and abilities, and we are able to accomplish this in many ways. CONTROVERSY The new humanist is dedicated to dispelling controversy, to helping people find the responsible alternative, helping people learn how to make better choices, to work towards synergy, maximum cooperation with those around us, thus improving human relations. It
was the classical Greeks who said "virtue lies on the mean between
two extremes." It is on the mean that we find the responsible alternative,
virtue and truth, veritas. The motto of the new Humanist in dispelling controversy: THE POINT IS NOT THE ISSUE, IT'S THE RELATIONSHIP That is, we hold the person or group to be higher than the issue that separates us. As with the issue of pro-life vs. pro-choice (which I discuss in length in the book on "The New Humanism"): In order to dispel this controversy, we look for the responsible alternative. We look for humanistic values that lie on the mean between the two extremes. On the mean is where we find the responsible alternative that life is not about us, individually. It is about the examples we set for others on what it means to be human as we live our lives in the Spirit of Oneness, as we abide by the Law of Oneness, that we are all important, even the unborn, who have no voice and no one to protect them. Human life is sacred and inviolable, and that is the first mandate of the Law of Oneness. The test question will always be in this life vs choice controversy is that if the conception is not interrupted a human life enters the world and as the Irish singer states in her song: Let Me Live: LET
ME LIVE Let
Me live You
cannot know the difference I could make Let
Me Live As
you carry me I
am waiting The key to the responsible alternative is looking for the responsible choice in our words and actions. The humanist looks for the choice that the hero would make, the highest choice possible. The principle of the responsible alternative can be applied to all controversy that holds us back from the Truth of Us: abortion, gay rights, the death penalty, how to treat the migrant works who daily do our backbreaking work in the hot fields of the South, our felon-Americans. HUMANISM VS SEPARATISM There are two vibrations in the world, the blue vibration and the red vibration, positive and negative, Humanism and Separatism, each with its own sphere, each with its own vibration, the blue and the red. Old world values, old world consciousness is the reason the world is the way it is today, the old world of the eye-for-an-eye, stuck in the dark ages, a witch-burning mentality, stoning prostitutes, marking people with the Scarlet Letter, thriving on differences, racking people because they have a different religious view. Separatism is the source of all the ills of the world: not the will to power, not greed, not politics, not any of the other mundane pursuits that place things above people, for these are but symptoms of separatism. WE CANNOT GET TO UNITY THROUGH SEPARATISM Separatism denies Oneness; it is a violation of the Law of Oneness and thus undermines our goal to World Unity-utopia. Separatism thrives on negativity, controversy and the prejudice found in differences. Differences between people are an illusion. We see this as we continue to progress in the area of civil rights, but we still have a long way to go, for we still discriminate against blacks, migrants, gays, homeless, and most of all our felon-Americans. The motto of the humanist: WE CAN ALWAYS DO BETTER Our
problem is we don't have good enough reasons to do better, to be better
people; our philosophies are not working for us, our institutions have
let us down-Catholic fighting Protestant, Jew fighting Muslim; political
and corporate corruption, unclean fuel, chemical pollution, peddling
drugs, legal and illegal, unbridled capitalism. We are floundering, suffering from cultural lag, moving backwards instead of forwards. We have lost our center because we are not living the Truth of Us, the truth of Oneness, the truth that people are important; instead we are in the consciousness of the Dark Ages. Orthodox religion preaches peace and love but thrives on controversy, differences. While all ideas are valid, in the world we must focus on making better choices, finding a philosophy that is true, a philosophy that truly works for us. Orthodox religion, it is obvious is a failed system. If it could've saved us it would have done so long ago, but instead it is pulling us down because of its built-in contradiction of controversy, the "chosen people" and the "one, true Church" and other kinds of ethnocentrism and nationalism that are simply more symptoms of Separatism. Orthodox religion needs to get eclectic, focus on the philosophy of the Nazarene, who undoubtedly was the worlds greatest philosopher; focus on the Golden Rule and on the following teachings and not worry about the rest of the pomp, ceremony, the regal trappings of people who would be kings, the following scriptures which I quote in my Project Reclaim book. Scriptures
WE DWELL IN THE SPHERE OF HUMANISM When we focus on differences, how we are better, more deserving than others we dwell in illusion; we dwell in the Sphere of Separatism. Separatism is old world consciousness; it holds us back; it pulls us down; it is responsible for all the counterproductive human relations in the world. Separatism, negative controversy, is the downfall of all human relations; it is responsible for all the ills of the world. The New Humanism is a philosophy that dispels controversy and improves human relations; it works toward peace, harmony and unity in the world. The New Humanism respects the views of all people, the principle being that all ideas are valid is a universe of infinite possibility. The goal of all humanists is world unity. Good human relations is the path to world unity. Therefore the goal of all humanists is better human relations. Better human relations is achieved by dispelling controversy and creating in its place harmony, peace and understanding. We must work toward the goal of world unity by obeying the Law of Oneness. Our responsibility in the world is to help people care about one another so that we can better live the Truth of Us and to work toward our central goal or world unity. From this we derive the first law of the Universe: The Law of Oneness, which implies that each of us has a certain responsibility that goes with being a human being in a world of other human beings. It is this responsibility that helps us find the responsible alternative in a world gone controversy. THE GOAL OF WORLD UNITY The New Humanism is the philosophy of world unity. The Spirit of Oneness is the energy that permeates every fiber of the concentric rings of the human experience, from the inner family circle outward to the Taliban and the Al-kaida In order to live the Truth of Us, we need a New Consciousness Revolution. We need a New Humanism to help us reconnect with our Source of our strength. The big difference between the old humanism and the New Humanism is that the former is predominantly secularist, which is in staunch opposition to the spiritualists, who are committed to a moratorium on orthodox religion. The New Humanism is not opposed to religion per se, except that it's not working for us. It is steeped in dogma, and dogma does not give us room to grow. It does not allow us to ask questions and think for ourselves; it does not allow us to develop toward higher and higher plateaus of spiritual awareness. However, those spiritualists who are able to achieve their goals of self-growth and improvement, caring about people and the planet and helping this to become a better world, then it is a good thing. Our new philosophy must take us the rest of the way if we are to achieve world unity in the face of religion that still preaches a separatist elitism. It's not about going to Heaven, it's about what can we do to make this a better world, how can we bring back the elixir of eternal optimism for a world gone pessimism? Human existence is not all about us on the individual level, but it is a collective exchange of thoughts and ideas and cooperation in the Spirit of Oneness. It is about becoming a hero in our communities, leading by example, healing the breech in the camps of controversy by fusing ideas dialectically into a new thesis with the focus always being on resolving controversy toward the responsible alternative and making better humanistic choices. Those who favor choice, as in pro-choice, focus on the importance of "choice." However, the focus should always be on the "humanist choice," on the choice that sets the best example on what It means to be human. LIFE IS NOT ABOUT US Not on the individual level. Life is about us as reflected off our community, for all that I do to you, I do to myself; and that holds true the other way too: All that I do to myself I do to you. The old humanism is essentially antagonistic; it thrives on controversy, trying to kill ideas when all ideas are valid in a universe of infinite possibility. WHEN WE START KILLING IDEAS WHERE DO WE STOP? Thus the old humanism as a cure is worse than the ill. The humanist is always out to make better choices in his life and by his example help others to make better choices as well. Humanism helps us better understand the Law of Oneness, the Truth of Us, how to see ourselves in others. What the New Humanism does is help those us who are stuck in an old-world dogma, espousing Dark Ages philosophy, a consciousness altogether counterproductive to our goals of world unity. It is because of this fundamental conflict that the world is the way it is, one country warring against another, one religious group against another, mankind's inhumanity to mankind. Once we start genuinely caring about people, and seeing ourselves in others, we can no longer struggle against them in the myriad of controversies of religion and politics. There is only one emotion in the world and that is love, however because we choose to live in the Sphere of Separatism, we become fearful, and fear then becomes the controversy against love, and from this comes the age-old controversy between good and evil, all emerging from within us. CONCLUSION Humanism is at the heart of all mankind, providing us with the means to work harder that we might become great human beings. The spirit of Humanism is the Spirit of Oneness at work in the world. We can believe what we want to believe but all we have in this world is each other. There is only one thing expected of us in life and that is to be a real person, and the only way we can do that is to care about people. Our work in the world is greater than we are. Legacy is the meaning of life. The best way to celebrate life on this planet is to join each other in the Spirit of Oneness. We are all One; we are all brothers and sisters of the Universe. WE ARE ALL ONE FAMILY IN MANKIND.
