LEGACY
When
I say that the meaning of life is legacy,
that means legacy as immortality in both a mundane and a spiritual sense,
in that through our immortality we live on in the Oneness of all mankind,
even as our humanity lives on in the DNA of our collective unconscious.
Immortality
means the sum total of what's left of us after our ashes cease blowing
in the wind.
Legacy is the footprints we've left behind, the candles we've lit in
the world,
the examples we've left behind for our youth on what it means to be
human,
what it means to genuinely care about people, generally the contributions
we've made
on how to make this a little better world.
This
is the essence of humanism, following our bliss to the higher purpose,
not concerning ourselves with meaningless esoteric questions
but simply focusing on the work we've come to do.
Through
the existential notion of doing, we define our world,
we arrive at the theme of who we are, for what we do in the world is
ultimately
more important than who we are, and this solves for us the mystery of
the Who am I?
Our
actions, thoughts words and deeds, become as one with the true meaning
of humanism,
the elixir we've brought forth from the inmost cave on the Hero's Journey,
the treasure of eternal optimism we've brought back to the pessimistic
world,
our special gift, our unique understanding of what it means to be human.
It
is our legacy, described in the words of our epitaph:
"Because he was here yesterday, the world
is a little better place today."
